Tax Staff Accountant

We are looking for a tax accountant to prepare federal and state returns of various types. To succeed in this role, you should show interest in following changes to tax regulations and laws, and excellent time management, since tight deadlines are part of the work.

Responsibilities include organizing and maintaining records of client documents and interactions. You should be able to recommend tax strategies that comply with the law and promote our clients' financial well-being, work comfortably on a team, and still track personal goals and deadlines. The position is office-based, with work-from-home flexibility when needed.

Duties and responsibilities

• Prepare various tax return types and payments through tax software
• Track tax return statuses
• Estimate and advise on potential tax savings and strategies
• Complete quarterly and annual tax reports
• Organize and update the company's tax database
• Recommend ideas and improvements for overall business growth
• Prepare necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns
• Follow industry trends and track changes related to tax law
• Promote and encourage team morale

Required skills and abilities

• Proven work experience as a tax accountant, tax analyst, or tax preparer
• Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
• Familiarity with accounting software packages
• Computer literacy, MS Excel in particular
• Excellent analytical and time management skills
• Strong numeracy skills
• Keen attention to detail

Education and experience

• BS degree in accounting, finance, or a relevant tax subject

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
